We Don't Just Practice Environmental Law, We Make It

Knauf Shaw LLP is a boutique law firm compromised of highly trained and experienced environmental attorneys who represent their developer, landowner, municipal, not-for-profit, individual and corporate clients in environmental, renewable energy, municipal, and land use matters.

Many of the firm's projects involve contaminated real estate known as "brownfields," so Knauf Shaw focuses on assisting clients in taking advantage of the benefits of redeveloping brownfields, and bringing cost recovery litigation to recoup cleanup costs. The firm also guides projects through the federal National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) and State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) processes, and related land use approvals and environmental permits, including related litigation. Knauf Shaw also serves as counsel to municipalities for general municipal, zoning, renewable energy and environmental matters. The firm's partners, Alan J. Knauf and Linda R. Shaw, are known throughout New York for their legal skills in these fields.

The partners are supported by a staff of skilled attorneys and other professionals. From a former petroleum tank farm in Island Park, Long Island to a radioactive former military site near Niagara Falls, Knauf Shaw is facilitating numerous development projects on contaminated land throughout New York, and resolving long-standing environmental disputes through successful litigation.

Every day, Knauf Shaw works with a wide variety of clients to move projects and cases forward. We pride ourselves on solving your environmental matters quickly and efficiently – we get things done.
