
Melissa Valle, a Partner at Knauf Shaw, focuses her practice on environmental cost recovery litigation, defense and prosecution, particularly in oil spill and hazardous substances litigation, as well as pre-litigation due diligence issues.
Melissa also advises clients on matters related to contaminated property, from site investigation to closure, brownfield and superfund site redevelopment, SEQRA compliance, environmental regulatory and enforcement matters, as well as all varieties of land use and zoning matters. Melissa works closely with PRPs, real estate developers, landowners, and prospective purchasers in strategizing and managing the investigation and redevelopment of contaminated properties and real estate transactions, and addressing complex environmental compliance issues. Melissa advises businesses and other entities seeking to obtain NYSDEC-issued permits like solid waste management facility (SWMF) permits, and state pollution elimination discharge system (SPDES) permits, and a number of other environmental statutes, regulations, and programs.
Melissa was selected to the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 Super Lawyers New York Rising Stars List.
Melissa grew up in the Rochester area, and now resides here with her family and two German Shepherds, where she enjoys hiking and making maple syrup.
